. JUNE DAY 25
. LOVE AND HUMILITY
Genesis 13:8
And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
Abraham was a man of great character. In the pursuit of your God-given vision, character is very important. For the love he had for lot his brother’s son, he allowed him to go with him. With the call Abraham received, he knew it was a call to be blessed. He was not selfish to enjoy the blessing alone.
From the scripture above, you discover that, there was strife between Abraham herdsmen and Lot’s herdsmen, instead of Lot to caution his herdsmen and apologize to his uncle Abraham, he became proud to allow strife between him and his uncle and agreed to separate. He even chose first. Lot, the small boy of yesterday, that was born in Abraham’s presence was not afraid. He looked at the best area of Sodom and Gomorrah and chose walking by sight. So he moved and dwelt there.
Abraham exhibited the spirit of humility by allowing his nephew, a junior to him that he brought up to chose first.
Some of us will not take it. We would have been very angry and said words like: ” I don’t blame you, Lot, so you have grown wings abi? After all I have done for you, so this is how you want to pay me back! you ingrate! My God will judge you!”
No matter how justified your anger is, you have derailed or delayed the plan of God for your life. Who knows if that delay you are experiencing is not as a result of a grudge you are holding against someone who hurt you badly. You have to let go and let God. All the good you did for him or her, you did for God(see Mathew 25:31-46)
Abraham held no grudges against Lot. He was the one who went to rescue him when he was captured. Abraham out of love, risked his life and the lives of his servants to rescue lot who didn’t treat him well. This is the love Jesus Chris admonished us to have for one another. If we were Abraham, we would have said, “that is good for him, he is suffering for his wickedness against me!” Abraham did not think of that, no wonder he is the father of faith.
No matter how bad we have been treated by a friend or a closed confidant, it is not proper for you as a believer to be happy when you see that person going through tough times. It is an instruction from the book of Proverbs popularly called the books of wisdom, that if you are happy over the punishment of your enemy, God will stop the punishment. (Proverbs 24:17-18)
Abraham did not rejoice at the misfortune of his nephew, Lot. Instead he still kept on helping him. This is a very powerful secret to greatness. Despite the promise of God to make Abraham great, it was his character of humility and love that brought the manifestation of the prophecy.
Prayer/Declaration: O Lord my father, I call forth every good prophecies over my life into manifestation in Jesus name
